I don’t think too many people achieve their goals, their aims, their dreams… um, and I’m not one of those people who’s going to go to the grave thinking “what if?” There’s nothing I haven’t seen I don’t think. You get dogs with their jaws wired up so they can’t eat or drink. Dogs set on fire, dogs shot, machete attacks. Animals feel pain the same as we do. They need food, they need a doctor when they’re sick. They need a safe place to sleep. They need somebody to love them, that is domestic animals. Wild animals are actually no different apart from they don’t need mankind. I mean we created these creatures. Man created the dog. So, for me, we have a huge responsibility, We have a total responsibility to take care of these creatures. I just said to John, “you’re gonna have to take me to the hospital. My legs are in agony.” And… We got to the hospital, they put me in emergency, well they put me on a trolley, and we just watched my legs change from normal flesh color to a bluey-grey. Then I don’t remember anything for six weeks. I was in a coma. It must have been horrendous for John because he was told “expect that she’s going to die.” But you know, I mean I got the best outcome: only losing my legs. I should have lost my life. So I have a lot to be grateful for. That I was, you know given this chance to carry on doing the work that I love. As weird as it sounds, I didn’t have time to think about my problems. You make your own choice to live your life the way you want to live it and this is the result, kind of thing. As I say there’s nobody richer, and there’s nobody got more reward in their heart than John and I. Nobody.
