Part 1: Sphere Tutorial for the Turtle Lanyard, Boondoggle, Scoubidou

Hey, guys. So today I’m going to be showing you how to make, or do the sphere stitch which is required in order to make the turtle or the octopus. So let’s jump right into it. What we are going to need are 8 pieces of string that are about 30 inches to 36 inches long, or about a yard And you’re going to make two double sided lanyards With those And if you haven’t seen the video on how to do that Go ahead and check it out, I’ll probably post a link somewhere. So once you have your two lanyards, this is the part that’s kind of tricky. Unfortunately, it starts right at the beginning. So, what I’m going to do is I’m going to pick one lanyard and that’s going to be my base lanyard. I’m going to choose this lanyard and this is going to be my base. And then this second one this is the one that I’m going to be weaving into this one. So first, what you wanna do is grab one strand. See how these are double sided? You wanna grab all the top strands when you do this step. So I’m gonna grab this green strand here and I’m going to pull it down across my other double sided lanyard. Then I’m just going to do a normal stitch. Only using the top strands again. Alright and then once you have your stitch complete, you want to tighten that up. Alright, so you can see how the green strand here is kind of sticking through. And now what you’re going to do is you’re going to grab the next closest strand. And for me that is this transparent pink here. I’m going to first make sure this is nice and tight. I’m going to take this transparent pink and I’m Going to pull it down on the other side of. So let me pull these all closer… I’m going to pull the transparent pink down on the side of the lanyard, where the opening space is. Then I’m just going to do another stitch. On my base lanyard Hey hey, laundry’s done. Alright, and then I’m going to tighten this next one up. Okay And now I’m going to go back to that other lanyard and I’m going to pick the next closest string, and for me, that is this hot pink here. I’m going to pull the hot pink down on the other side, where the little space is. So I have the clear string here and then I have this little area and I’m going to pull it down over that way. Hold that there with my thumb. And grab the next string and just do another stitch. Tighten that up again.
