So we’re here at the McCoy site, part of
Trout Unlimited’s effort to improve Spring So this was a large habitat project starting
back in 2009. The dam was removed, there’s a lot of in-stream habitat work done, and
it really transformed this section of the stream. What we’re going to do is cross the stream
in a boat and plant. We’re going to plant 1,700 plus seedlings
and transplants. We’re going to plant an area of about two acres. We expect to have
around 40 volunteers. No one works without brownies! These people are just very deeply caring people
they care deeply about our environment. As you know, some of the most beautiful waters
in Pennsylvania are here. So, you get all these folks coming together to improve what’s
called a riparian area and these good things happen. Team four! So it’s been a very successful program.
In future years, it should be a beautiful habitat area.
