Trout fishing Kola peninsula 2016

it´s huge life is good welcome to Kola Are we drawing straws over who´s goes first? Oh! Right there Meet Kai Finbråten, who goes by the name of KolaKai 38 weeks on the Peninsula, a true Kola veteran It´s hanging But first of all Kai really enjoys icefishing for small carpfish wintertime And every christmas you find him as a karaokesinger on the ferry to Denmark. Kai also has a passion for huge pike Nevertheless, people first of all relates him to his trout fisheries on the Kola peninsula If we do things right – picking the right fly and presenting it carefully – – then I think all of us will land a good amount of trout over 2 kilo The group leader set the bar high and our adventure could begin Hail mary, right there! A rise! Right there? Yes, right there Go for it Lasse Lasse pulled the longest straw Right here in the stream? Yes, a couple of meters upstream It´s a 1,7 kilo trout large enough when you think you have seen it all you saw the waves? yes it was after it! holy moly its a big fish can´t see the fly I can see it, let it drift dangerzone now try a little shorter *norwegian cheering It´s huge! Welcome to Kola how long have we been here for, five minutes? Careful now, so you don´t unnecessary scare other fish Now I feel alive Just relax and enjoy this Lasse did you see that take my friends it´s going downstream the watertemperature is too high, fishing will be slow (playful tone) with the beer can in the net what a start! 2,3 2,3?? it´s a new personal best! congratulations to myself oh my what a fish congratulations brother The first hours on the tundra was magnificent All of us got big trout in the net Yes, i have a new pb if you wondered broke the 3 kilo mark I´ve got 23 trout so far, but none today So now the itch is back We were high on the tundra trout Slowly it appeared to us that the Kola peninsula is a special place to our knowledge there is nothing like it on earth when it comes to trout size and numbers in my opinion, we are now by one of the best trout rivers in the world so we got Kai talking there are species of mayflies that don´t exist in Norway in addition to those we know from the norwegian rivers so the mayfly is the key? well the caddis is at least as important as the mayfly the average weight in these rivers is fantastic it sure is fun on the tundra better than the forest lakes back home? it´s fun fishing back home, but this is more fun there it goes feels good every time? every time. was that fish number 100? number 99 a decent number of fish average of 2 kilo? yes, I believe that is achievable *norwegian cheering again a lot of fish between 1,8 and 2,5 kilos a good number over 3 and a few from 4 to 5 kilos so I think we will have a good time I can guarantee you we will land a lot of fish and of course, the veteran was right the days were filled with various situations that was so cool a beautiful fish congratulations man when you know that no people have been here since last august a good feeling it sure is and only 18 people will visit this part of the river during the 10 week season so the pressure on the river is really low the brown trout conservation program seems to be working and there are natural predators here the big pike helps keeping the population in balance the mink as well it´s untouched by man and it´s catch and release only and when we leave, this place is supposed to be excactly like we found it that is important all we have to care about is to fish, eat and sometimes sleep we have the russian guide who also prepares our food it is no luxury at all but we can spend time doing what we enjoy the most, for a full week thanks corporal you are welcome, over and out let´s go catch a big one and i´m laying out my cdc caddis, not actually thinking the fish is feeding *sound of the take missed it made another 10-15 casts – nothing so I put on a mayfly dun – nothing tried the Tsjernobyl ant – nothing picked up a rock, threw it at the fish and walked across the river a shitty fish and then the fished rolled over the rock and ate it
