Weighing a 51-pound Striper in the Martha’s Vineyard Bass & Bluefish Derby

So we’re at weigh-in here this morning in
Edgartown. We were out last night on the Elizabeth’s
doing our usual routine, fishing through the night and throwing some eels. We were pretty discouraged, it was pretty
dead last night. There were a lot of really small fish. We decided to go back and hit one spot, backtrack,
and we picked up a pretty nice fish. We thought it was a little bit smaller at
first just because of the small fish. There was a lot of under 20-inch fish in there. Steve hooked into something pretty substantial
here. Once it came boat side about 5 minutes later
we realized it was a pretty legitimate fish. The official weigh-in was 51.05. Good work Steve. Pretty much the fish of
a lifetime for around here. We were really happy to pick that fish up. A lot of hard nights and a lot of effort goes
in. It’s nice to be rewarded like that every once
in a while.
