World’s Largest Shark: 7-Metre-Long ‘Deep Blue’ Believed To Be Biggest Ever

COMM: While cage diving in November 2013, Michael Maier filmed what is believed to be
the biggest great white shark caught on camera. Although some of this footage went online
last year, Michael is now sharing his previously unseen video and pictures of his close encounter
with the ocean giant known as Deep Blue. MICHAEL MAIER: What it was really famous for his interactions with white sharks. Everything
was very well prepared and the whole team felt safe. On the second day, I was there
into the water and first we had to wait because it was first of all nothing to see. All of
a sudden, out of the deep blue, there she came. We did realise immediately that she
was very big. Deep Blue is a very large big female shark and she has a ground around Mexico. MICHAEL MAIER: She was very calm, not at all nervous, and she was just doing her circles
around us. She was very interested in us, and has been really looking at us. During
the circles, we realised how big she was. She must have been something around 7 metres.
We had a very long beautiful dive with her and when we all came back to the boat, we’ve
been all very much enthusiastic about this encounter. MICHAEL MAIER: What I do love about diving with sharks is the massive force of these
animals in combination with elegance. It’s never hectic, it’s quiet, it’s reassuring,
and it’s just very beautiful to be with them in the water and to dive with them. On
this day, on this trip I feel the most luckiest guy being able to catch Deep Blue on the video,
and still when I watch this video, I’m very happy and still get enthusiastic again.

  1. We can all talk about how big this shark is, but what about the size of the balls on dude outside the cage?

  2. "She was very calm…not at all nervous…" And why would she be nervous? She could swallow you as easily as a man would pop a Tylenol capsule. She's an apex predator in her domain. It's YOU who should be shitting your wetsuit.

  3. she’s big and creepy
    but
it was so cute how curious she was, just analyzing them and not attacking them at all.

  4. Larger sharks have been sighted. The fisheries Dept usually just report them as 6 metres although unofficially there have been reports of 8 metres and upwards.

  5. She is big, but 7meters is a bit of an exaggeration.
Probably closer to 5meters maybe even less.
    She's fat, not long.

  6. Quelle merveille ce requin, merci de montrer ces belle images qui nous montrent que le requin n'est pas la bête monstrueuese que beaucoup croit

  7. The real question is why the guy didnt sink to the bottom of the ocean with those massive balls of his!!! Touching a massive shark like that.

  8. THE BOYS AT GUADALUPE SHOULD BE CREDITED, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT DISCOVERED BIG BLUE MAMA, NOT HER SECOND SIGHTING AT HAWAII, UM PEOPLE, SOMETHING GOT HER PREGNANT, THAT GAVE HER THOSE MATING LASHES ON HER RIGHT SIDE, SHOULD’NT YOU ALL BE WORRIED ABOUT BIG DADDY?? TOO??

  9. Very very beautiful fish and dude big too. Looks like she may have been missing a bunch of teeth haven't came back in yet. Still if they could have they should have giving her something to eat.

  10. "We all felt very enthusiastic about this encounter" [especially the part where they got to keep all their limbs]

That huge shark looked very pregnant to me. Even if she wasn't, the amount of flexibility in it's snout, face and head surprised me. They are so powerful you'd think they'd need a stiff and muscular frame like a tuna in order to swim as fast as they do. It's that nose to tail electric sensor strip running the length of their bodies that freaks me out. Well, after the teeth. That ability to sense our presence from far away is disconcerting.

  11. Diving with sharks is probably the dumbest thing I've seen. What a crash test dummy. Probably gonna have gender reassignment surgery next..dork.

  12. I knew it…. That's one of the mafia sharks from sharks tale. When it swims up you can see it say ohhh how you's doin over here!?

  13. I don't see a 7 meter shark. The shark is pregnant and probably 4.5 meters the most. Don't exaggerate the size please.
